Whatever gaffes plague 77-year-old former Vice President Joe Biden, Democratic voters have backed his candidacy over 78-year-old Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), whose affinity for socialism has all but killed his campaign. With only two Democrat candidates left, voters have jumped on the Biden bandwagon, even though Joe’s confused at times and recently went off at a campaign stop in Michigan questioning his commitment to the Second Amendment. “You’re full of shit,” Biden told the autoworker, responding to his comment that he’s “actively trying to end the Second Amendment.” Whatever the voter said or didn’t say, Biden’s response was so deplorable, it can only be explained by the kind of disinhibition seen in dementia. No presidential candidate hurls expletives at potential voters without showing cognitive decline. Whether Biden “felt” it or not, he shouldn’t have said it.

Polls show Biden up by 20 points over Sanders in Michigan, regardless of what he says on the campaign trail. When Joe goes off script, that’s when problems arise, this time shouting down a potential voter questioning his commitment to the Second Amendment. Once Biden vented his anger, other autoworkers at a Detroit assembly plant for Fiat-Chrysler started chanting, “Trump, Trump, Trump,” further irking the former Vice President. Losing his cool shows that Joe has a temper problem, most likely due to aging or fatigue. Openly using profanity on potential voters is frowned on by all politicians, let alone seeking his Party’s nomination. Media reports have all but buried the Sanders’s campaign, anointing Joe as the 2020 Democrat nominee to face Trump in the Nov. 3 election. Losing control of oneself doesn’t play well in the media for any presidential candidate.

Whether or not Biden lashed out in Detroit an autoworker, Democrats voters have no choice going forward when compared to Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.). While it’s true Bernie draws big crowds with hi Pied Piper rhetoric promising Medicare-for-all, retiring student debt, free college tuition and commitment to climate change, he’s only attracting youthful voters. Since youthful voters turn out in small numbers compared with seniors, Biden has the decisive edge with the over-50 demographic. Bernie thought focusing on Biden’s voting on Social Security would gain him traction. With most voters seeing Joe as slightly less left-wing than Bernie, Sanders isn’t going to get traction on the Social Security issue. Bernie’s only hope would to have contrasted himself with Joe on U.S. foreign policy. Biden, like former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, tends to back Mideast wars.

Bernie’s biggest problem is that a growing majority in the Democratic Party believes that he’s not electable, not only for is leftist positions but his age. Biden too has problems with age but is Democrats’ last hope of beating Trump. If Joe’s handlers can limit his off-the-cuff exchanges, he’ll have the best shot of beating Trump. Picking a vote-getting VP would be a big asset for Joe as he gets closer to the nomination. Laying out who’d be in a Biden Cabinet is less important than picking the right running mate. Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.), 79, urged Biden to pick a black woman for a running mate, suggesting former Democrat candidate Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.). Kamala showed her moxie confronting Joe at a CNN debate in Miami June 27, 2019 on the busing issue. Kamala’s campaign unraveled after confronting Joe, partly because no one really thought she was a viable candidate.

Joe’s been known to go off on constituents at campaign stops. He called a female student a “lying dog-faced pony soldier” for asking him about his fourth place showing in Iowa. Joe turned his campaign around after finishing fifth in New Hampshire, winning South Carolina Feb. 29. Biden’s sudden success spoke volumes how Sanders has become a pariah, leaving Joe the Democrats best option to beat Trump. When voters go to the polls today in Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Idaho, North Dakota and Washington State, it’s doubtful Bernie will win anything. Since winning South Carolina, Democrat votes have woke up to Biden being the Party’s best shot of beating Trump on Nov. 3. Whatever Biden’s gaffes on the campaign trail, Democratic voters have decided that he’s the only one capable of besting Trump. More uncouth outbursts on the campaign trail could hurt Biden’s chances.

Biden’s expected to put an exclamation point today on his eventual Democratic Party nomination, winning today’s mni-Super Tuesday. With Joe winning endorsement from recent Democratic candidate dropouts like former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Sen. Amy Klobushar (D-Minn.), billionaire Tom Steyer (D-Calif.), former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Bernie’s campaign fizzled out. Unlike four years ago when he lost to Hillary, Biden’s got a lock on the nomination. After Iowa and New Hampshire, doubts were raised about Biden’s struggling campaign. Nothing has changed for Joe other than Democratic Party voters giving up on Bernie, saying nothing about whether Joe can run an effective campaign against Trump. Praising Fidel Castro helped sink Bernie’s campaign, whether it was true or not.
