Resigning today to spare 73-year-old President Donald Trump more embarrassment, 50-year-old Harvard-educated Labor Secretary Alex Acosta called it quits, succumbing to the media frenzy over 66-year-old alleged pedophile billionaire Jeffrey Epstein. Acosta was U.S. District Attorney in Miami’s Southern District in 2008 when he cut Epstein a plea deal, having the billionaire hedge fund trader plead guilty to one count of soliciting a prostitute, register as a sex offender and pay a hefty fine, all to avoid jail time. Since the U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of Manhattan charged Epstein July 5 with running a sex-trafficking ring, the media demanded Acosta resign for giving the billionaire sex pervert a pass in 2008. Epstein’s been well-known in the dark circles of New York’s party scene for throwing orgies at his 56-million Manhattan town home, South Miami beach residence and Caribbean Island estate near St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.

Acosta couldn’t stop the avalanche of bad publicity from Epstein’s recent sex-trafficking charges, making it look like he gave him a pass. President Donald Trump tried to back Acosta but, in the end, bad publicity just kept coming. “This was him, not me. Because I’m with him,” Trump said. Trump knows what it’s like to be under the gun, spending most of his presidency defending charges that he colluded with Russia to win the 2016 presidential election. Even after Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s 22-month investigation, clearing Trump of Russian collusion, the media and Democrat Party continue the narrative. “He’s a tremendous talent. He’s a Hispanic man. He went to Harvard, a great student. And in so many ways, I just hate what he’s saying now, because we’re gonna to miss him,” Trump said, with Acosta at his side in the White House Rose Garden.

Unable to control the media narrative, Acosta was doomed once federal authorities nabbed Epstein for the second time. Dealing with sex crimes is no easy matter for federal authorities, often seeing high recidivism and repeat offenders. Epstein’s sex parties were well known in Manhattan, often attracting the likes of former President Bill Clinton, President Donald Trump, former Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz, Victoria Secrets CEO Leslie Maxwell, Britain’s Prince Andrew, media mogul Mortimer Zuckerman, famed film director Woody Allen, former Harvard President Larry Summers and many others. All disclaimed knowing or attending any of Epstein’s sex parties but the fact speak for themselves. Acosta couldn’t stop the tsunami of adverse publicity since cutting Epstein a sweetheart deal in 2008. Acosta admitted he’d become a distraction to the White House.

Trump doesn’t like to lose a token minority serving in his Cabinet. “He’s Hispanic, which, I so admire,” the president said. “Because maybe it was a little tougher for him and maybe not,” referring to all the border problems that have fallen on the administration. Today’s media wants to hang the entire border crisis on Trump, when its been happening for decades. Up close-and-personal images of ICE {Immigration and Customs Enforcement] detention facilities have given the White House a black eye. Acosta was one of the rare Hispanics in Trump’s Cabinet, showing that Trump isn’t biased against Latinos. “I do not think it is right and fair for this administration’s Labor Department to have Epstein as a focus,” Acosta said, explaining why he decided to throw in the towel. Faced with an uphill battle for a second term, Trump can’t afford too many distractions heading into 2020.

Whatever happened with Epstein’s plea deal in 2008, it wasn’t Acosta’s fault, since the whole team agreed to the deal. Acosta admitted it’s difficult to get verdicts for sex offenders. “Times have changed,” said Accosta, referring the MeToo movement, giving added protections to victims. Epstein’s current problems got a lot worse when one of his accusers, 32-year-old Jennifer Araoz, went public. She claims Epstein picked her up outside New York City High School when she was 14, taking her to his Manhattan town house. Araoz claims Epstein paid her $300 to strip, so he could masturbate himself. Araoz claims when she was 15-year-old she was raped by Epstein, adding to the 55-year-old billionaires legal troubles. Epstein’s asked to be released from Manhattans’ federal detention facility. A U.S. District Court Judge will decide Monday whether Epstein gets house-arrest or remains behind bars.

Trump certainly didn’t need the controversy from Epstein, especially because he’s named as one of Epstein’s celebrity guests. Whatever Trump or anyone else did at Epstein’s parties is anyone’s guess. It’s going to be difficult for federal authorities to prove Epstein was running a sex trafficking operation. Federal authorities tried but failed to charge New England Patriot Owner Robert Kraft with sex trafficking, when he was caught Feb. 20 soliciting sex at a South Florida massage parlor. Letting Epstein off-the-hook in 2008 has cost Acosta his job in 2019. Many people including Trump wish the Epstein story would go away soon. With so many celebrities and moguls attending Epstein’s parties, it’s hard to know what happened. One thing’s for sure: Epstein has a sexual perversion with underage teenage girls. If federal authorities don’t get him for sex trafficking he’ll be back on the streets.
